Matt Minnick, PhD
Chief Geoscientist & Co-Founder

Matt is a highly experienced geothermal reservoir engineer, with 17 years under his belt advancing geothermal resource development across diverse geological settings on multiple continents.

Matt previously served as the Geothermal and CCS program lead at RESPEC, where he built the multidisciplinary geothermal team from the ground up and led projects spanning conventional hydrothermal systems, EGS, and Hot Sedimentary Aquifers (HSA). His project portfolio has ranged from high-temperature volcanic systems in New Zealand, Ecuador, Colombia, Kenya, and the Salton Sea to moderate-temperature basin and range plays and sedimentary basins across the US and Canada. His expertise covers the full lifecycle of subsurface development from exploration strategy and data acquisition to reservoir simulation, well testing, and well field design and development.

Matt holds a PhD in Geological Engineering with a minor in Computer Science focused on AI/ML from the Colorado School of Mines, as well as a B.S. and M.S. in Geological Engineering  from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.
