Kai supports the machine learning and modeling infrastructure underpinning Birch's second-generation EGS engineering approach. Kai holds a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science with a minor in Physics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he focused on machine learning, reinforcement learning, and quantitative modeling. His prior work spans ML engineering at Palazzo AI, where he built and optimized pipelines for production deployment and computational physics research simulating large-scale particle trajectories on high-performance computing clusters. Kai brings a rigorous quantitative and computational foundation to the AI and ML workflows that increasingly sit at the core of how Birch designs and evaluates its subsurface systems..
